Commercial, Pasco, WA.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Anticipated start date is December 29, 2020.<\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<div>This recruitment is essential to maintain operations and fulfill WFDW\u2019s legal obligations.\u00a0 Essential and critical function:<strong>\u00a0\u00a0Staff necessary to prosecute fisheries, hunting opportunities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\nDo you want to make a difference by making a positive impact on the environment? If so, then join a great team that shares your interests!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We are looking for applicants who possess excellent people skills, the ability to juggle several high-priority scopes of work, and who want the opportunity to independently problem-solve.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This position conducts creel survey of sturgeon sport fisheries between McNary Dam and John Day Dam.\u00a0 This fishery monitoring is used to keep recreational harvests within assigned seasonal guideline.\u00a0 White Sturgeon surveys are one of the tasks required to complete the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) \u201cStatus and Habitat Requirements of White Sturgeon\u201d contract.\u00a0 It\u2019s integral to the objective of rebuilding white sturgeon populations and essential to achieving the agency goals.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>KEY DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interview anglers and record their fishing time, location, target species, and catch<\/li>\n<li>Collect biological and mark sample data from fish<\/li>\n<li>Conduct daily counts of boats and bank anglers<\/li>\n<li>Review information carefully, recognizing when pertinent information is incorrect or missing<\/li>\n<li>Submit sampling data and weekly reports summarizing creel sample data<\/li>\n<li>Attend team briefings and required training.<\/li>\n<li>Complete semi-monthly Total Time form<\/li>\n<li>May (rarely) creel in The Dalles or Bonneville reservoirs<\/li>\n<li>May assist with stock assessment tagging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Working sitting, including hazards:<\/strong><br \/>\nField work includes along highways, at boat ramps and riverbanks along the Columbia River primarily from McNary Dam to Boardman, OR marina and Crow Butte State Park in Washington.<br \/>\nExposure to hazards of driving, boat docks, and inclement weather.<br \/>\nConsiderable amount of time driving a pickup truck, sedan, or SUV.<br \/>\nNeed to walk steep banks and rugged shores to reach anglers or to reach live sturgeon or carcasses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work schedule is flexible (5) 8-hour days and\/or (4) 10-hour days per week, including days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vehicle, binoculars, measuring device, tag envelopes, PIT tag detector, CWT wand, knife, hemostats, scale cards, snout labels, plastic bags, towel or rags, PFD, cell phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Likely no overnight travel.
