Nov 02, 2020<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare project work plans for timber stand improvement (TSI), and reforestation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct reforestation and stocking surveys of recently planted tracts using standard methods and techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Perform reforestation and stocking surveys to determine reforestation and timber stand improvement needs.<\/li>\n<li>Perform surveys to determine stand conditions and the need for precommercial thinning or other treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Determine pre-commercial thinning, plantation conditions, and health status of forest plots.<\/li>\n<li>Perform reconnaissance and locate timber sale area boundaries in accordance with appropriate National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect silvicultural contract work (e.g., genetic tree improvement, planting, thinning, seeding, site preparation) for compliance with contracts.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct on-site observation of contractor or agency crews engaged in timber stand improvement or reforestation efforts.<\/li>\n<li>Mark, grade, and cruise timber in areas involving only a few silvicultural practices, but with some variation in forest types and composition.<\/li>\n<li>Make recommendations for areas requiring remedial action based on results of reforestation and stocking surveys.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or inspector on reforestation, timber stand improvement, planting or timber marking contracts.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all provisions are enforced and proper measures are taken to protect and enhance resource values<\/li>\n<li>Check for compliance on corrective actions identified during inspections and recommend final acceptance of contracts upon completion<\/li>\n<li>Traverse project areas to determine acreage and draft maps of traverse areas in preparation for timber stand improvement and reforestation activities.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the survival rate of seedlings by collecting data using established procedures and precedents.<\/li>\n<li>Correct minor problems in direct contact with COR.<\/li>\n<li>Collect basic silvicultural data needed to inventory stands and prescribe stand treatment based on field analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Plan inspections of silvicultural work such as genetic tree improvement, planting, thinning, seeding, and site preparation.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in preparation of recurring reports associated with the unit TSI and reforestation program<\/li>\n<li>Determine the need for site preparation and plantation
