The education award (currently $6,195) can be used to pay off student loans, pay tuition, and other college expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Positions in the Environmental focus area will generally include conservation, restoration, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Members serve at small non-profit agencies, city and county offices, and national wildlife refuges. They educate the public about our state\u2019s ecosystems and human impact upon the environment; they recruit and manage volunteers in habitat restoration projects; and perform field and lab work to help with monitoring and data collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples of service activities include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022Assisting with experimental research of site restoration practices.<br \/>\n\u2022Identifying collected specimens and monitoring species in the field.<br \/>\n\u2022Implementing environmental education events and volunteer restoration events.<br \/>\n\u2022Collaborating with local school groups, the Washington Trails Association, and land owners to enhance public access to natural areas.<\/p>\n<p>Find more information about WSC and all available positions on our website at <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonservicecorps.org\/become-a-member\/\">https:\/\/washingtonservicecorps.org\/become-a-member\/<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><strong><label>Qualifications:<\/label><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"item-value\">To be eligible to serve as an AmeriCorps member, you<\/p>\n<p>Must be at least 17 years old at the time you start serving.<\/p>\n<p>Must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien.<\/p>\n<p>Cannot be (or required to be) listed on the National Sex Offender Registry, or have been convicted of murder.<\/p>\n<p>Must have a high school diploma or GED \u2013 or be on schedule to complete your education for either of them during your service term (note that some positions require a college degree).
