Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather at the main campus of Seattle Children’s Hospital, and at various clinical and non-clinical off-sites as assigned. Essential duties include weeding, pruning, grooming, raking, mulching, planting, digging, plant removal, blowing, mowing, edging, string trimming, pressure washing, litter\/garbage pickup, snow\/ice removal, and ensuring walkways, stairs, and other outdoor spaces remain safe and clear of hazards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Required Education\/Experience: Required Credentials: Preferred:Overview<\/h4>\n
Requirements<\/h4>\n
\n– High school graduate or equivalent.
\n– A minimum of two (2) years practical groundskeeping or landscaping experience in a public or institutional environment.
\n– Per the driver’s license requirement noted below, must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.<\/p>\n
\n– Current Washington State Driver’s License to operate hospital vehicles.<\/p>\n
\n– A Bachelor’s degree in a horticulture related field or AA horticulture certificate.
\n– Work experience doing the following: weeding, raking, grooming, pruning, blowing, mowing, string trimming, pressure washing, using a chainsaw, and driving a truck.
\n– Work experience using the following tools and equipment: hand pruners, loppers, hedge shears, hand saws, backpack blower, mower, string trimmer, pressure washer, and chainsaw,
\n– Work experience driving trucks, skid steers, and small utility vehicles.
\n– Experience using, repairing, installing, and designing irrigation systems.
\n– Strong plant identification skills, particularly of plants that grow in the Pacific Northwest.
\n– Work experience pruning a variety of different types and species of woody plants.<\/p>\n
