The Policy and Government Affairs\u00a0department\u00a0of the World Wildlife Fund is seeking part-time to full-time interns for\u00a0to assist with congressional outreach and monitoring,\u00a0policy research\u00a0and\u00a0analysis, and\u00a0overall support to the team.\u00a0The\u00a0PGA team covers a\u00a0diversity of issues\u00a0before both Congress and the Administration,\u00a0and the internship\u00a0may entail work\u00a0on\u00a0policy, legislation,\u00a0regulations, including direct advocacy with US government stakeholders.\u00a0Research and analysis may\u00a0include\u00a0preparing briefs on new Members of Congress and\u00a0U.S. government agencies&#8217; roles, policies, and positions on issues relating to WWF&#8217;s mission\u00a0and priorities. Advocacy and outreach\u00a0support\u00a0may entail\u00a0covering and reporting back on\u00a0congressional hearings and markups,\u00a0contacting congressional offices on behalf of WWF, and\u00a0attending\u00a0or preparing staff for\u00a0congressional, administration, and\/or NGO coalition briefings. Subject matter will cover many of the issues in which WWF is\u00a0working with the US government, including\u00a0wildlife and biodiversity conservation, forest protection and restoration, oceans and fisheries, sustainable food and freshwater systems, climate change and energy policy, as well as congressional appropriations for programs that supporting WWF priorities in these areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"iCIMS_InfoMsg iCIMS_InfoField_Job\">Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<div class=\"iCIMS_InfoMsg iCIMS_InfoMsg_Job\">\n<div class=\"iCIMS_Expandable_Container\">\n<div class=\"iCIMS_Expandable_Text\">\n<p><strong>Internship Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research, writing &amp; analysis on various topics which may include\u00a0international conservation funding,\u00a0food\u00a0and water security, marine and fisheries issues,\u00a0wildlife and biodiversity conservation\u00a0and climate\u00a0and energy policy<\/li>\n<li>Legislative tracking and research<\/li>\n<li>Attend Congressional hearings and briefings, and NGO coalition meetings<\/li>\n<li>Support outreach to Capitol Hill and the Administration on legislation and rulemaking<\/li>\n<li>Support WWF advocacy for congressional appropriations<\/li>\n<li>Support preparations for WWF\u2019s annual constituent Lobby Day\u00a0in March,\u00a0as well as\u00a0logistics and attendance\u00a0on the day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"iCIMS_InfoMsg iCIMS_InfoField_Job\">Qualifications<\/h2>\n<div class=\"iCIMS_InfoMsg iCIMS_InfoMsg_Job\">\n<div class=\"iCIMS_Expandable_Container\">\n<div class=\"iCIMS_Expandable_Text\">\n<p><strong><em>Only enrolled students are eligible for this internship as you must be able to receive academic credit from your current academic institution.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Able to work either part time or full time, depending on class schedule and availability. Please note: This internship is for\u00a0the\u00a0Spring 2021 semester.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Desired Skills and Qualities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate student<\/li>\n<li>Interest in conservation and international development issues<\/li>\n<li>Interest and willingness to learn about Capitol Hill, the Administration and other non-governmental organizations<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communications skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaboratively and independently<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills crucial for developing working relationships, internally and externally<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Washington, DC<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unpaid.
