Responsibilities<\/p>\n
This position is primarily located in the Longmire (Paradise) area of Mount Rainier National Park. During the winter months, there are approximately 25 medical calls, 5-10 search and rescue missions, one to three multi-casualty or multi-agency operations annually. This is a non-supervisory position, the incumbent will perform a wide range of winter related activities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Provide medical care at the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a state EMT level or higher.<\/p>\n
Perform emergency medical care in response to various accident scenes, rescue environments and other emergencies involving injury and illness.<\/p>\n
Conduct snow surveys to training certifications and assess snow pack and avalanche danger.<\/p>\n
Provide winter safety information to all users conducting Preventative Search and Rescue (PSAR).<\/p>\n
Maintain all signs and ropes associated with the winter sledding hill at Paradise.<\/p>\n
Issue backcountry permits and register climbers.<\/p>\n
Conduct backcountry patrols on snowshoes or skis.<\/p>\n
Operate ambulances and other emergency vehicles in a safe and skilled manner.<\/p>\n
Maintains EMS and rescue equipment in a response-ready state and regularly performs related work projects as assigned during daily shift.<\/p>\n
Performs tasks as assigned under incident command system (ICS) and interacts routinely with outside agency emergency personnel.<\/p>\n
