The District seeks candidates that have land management (with passive recreation component), vegetation management and habitat restoration experience.\u00a0 Candidates that know about the collection of flora and fauna of California, and have experience creating, restoring, enhancing wildlife habitat for conservation and passive recreation are highly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n
Meet the Team!<\/strong> \u2022 Prepares complex technical reports regarding habitat management and environmental restoration projects; designs, implements, and evaluates data collection activities and biological monitoring programs for management and restoration projects; performs and directs the conduct of biological surveys of species and habitats using generally accepted scientific principals.<\/p>\n \u2022 Prepares natural resource conservation related grant applications and administers assigned grant funded projects; administers grant agreements and consultant contracts to ensure compliance with applicable terms and provisions.<\/p>\n \u2022 Provides liaison to various federal, State, and local agencies as well as non-profit land management organizations; represents the Park District on wildlife reserve management committees; works with private property owners, environmental organizations, resource conservation districts, and others on habitat management and environmental restoration issues.<\/p><\/div>\n AND<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n Experience<\/strong>: Three years of full-time field work experience in natural resource management, wildlife management, ecology, or habitat restoration.\u00a0 Three years of experience\u00a0must have included at least two years of\u00a0experience providing professional field supervision to a crew for the management of wildlife habitats, restoration of native habitat through re-vegetation, removal of exotic vegetation, conducting biological surveys of plant and animal species, or similar activities. (A Master’s degree in one of the required educational disciplines may be substituted for one year of the required fieldwork experience.)<\/p>\n Knowledge of<\/strong>: Principles and practices of wildlife habitat conservation, restoration and management; techniques of biological surveying and monitoring of sensitive species and habitats; techniques of exotic vegetation removal and restoration of natural riparian and upland ecosystems; techniques of data collection, analysis and methods of wildlife management; federal, State, and local laws and regulations relating to wildlife conservation; methods and procedures of conducting field studies; preparation and management of governmental grants.<\/p>\n Ability to<\/strong>: Prepare, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of management plans for wildlife habitat; prepare complex reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with Park District staff, federal and state resource agencies, private land management organizations, private property owners, and members of the general public; communicate effectively to a variety of groups and individuals; work independently with minimal supervision; complete complex assignments in a timely fashion; represent the Park District effectively on interagency committees and with the general public; properly file requests to obtain permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as necessary for surveying of species protected under the Endangered Species Act.<\/div>\n What\u2019s Next?<\/strong><\/div>\n Applicants who are currently County of Riverside employees and\/or current employees of the Department\/Agency may be considered before other applicants depending on the volume of the applications received.<\/p>\n Qualified applicants may be considered for future vacancies throughout the County.<\/p>\n Applications received prior to the closing date will be considered based on the information submitted.
