The Deschutes River Conservancy\u00a0(DRC), based\u00a0in Bend, Oregon, is a\u00a0501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1996.\u00a0The DRC is a strong, stable organization that is well-positioned for continued success in the years to come. The Board and internal team are passionate, committed, and aligned in their path forward. From this great baseline, the DRC Board seeks a transformational chief executive to stretch the organization to new levels and accomplish a bold vision for the future.<\/p>\n

\nThe DRC\u00a0brings together tribal, irrigation, environmental, hydropower, and federal, state and local government interests in a consensus-based forum. The organization\u00a0accomplishes\u00a0its goals through financing\u00a0and\u00a0implementation of on-the-ground\u00a0projects and transactions\u00a0using voluntary\u00a0approaches to\u00a0ecosystem\u00a0restoration.<\/p>\n\n

\nCollaboration
\n<\/em>Collaboration\u00a0and cooperation are\u00a0essential components of all DRC enterprises\u00a0and projects.\u00a0 The DRC facilitates partnerships with landowners, local\u00a0governments, watershed councils, irrigation districts, and other interested citizens. The organization is governed by a 15-person board of\u00a0directors representing seven interests and\u00a0is managed by a full-time Executive Director with eight employees and a $2.1 million budget.<\/p>\n

\nThe Deschutes River basin is one of the most\u00a0ecologically diverse in the Northwest with mountains, valleys, and plateaus on the\u00a0eastern slope of the Cascade Range.\u00a0The natural beauty of the region\u00a0attracts retirees, tourists,\u00a0and new businesses that play a pivotal role in the area\u2019s economy. Rivers and streams in the basin\u00a0support world-class recreational fisheries. The mountains\u00a0are richly forested. Abundant water\u00a0and\u00a0sunshine\u00a0continue to sustain the agricultural economy.<\/p>\n
