however, to ensure consideration\u00a0applications should be received by August 31, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.<\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<div>Are you passionate about the environment?\u00a0 Interested in making an impact?\u00a0 Have a passion and experience for energy conservation and sustainability?\u00a0 Then this opportunity may be for you.\u00a0<strong>Join us!\u00a0 Make an Impact!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Sustainability Manager will lead the development of new and creative ways to reduce King County Housing Authority&#8217;s (KCHA) footprint on the environment while enabling the agency to re-purpose saved energy dollars towards the support of low income households.<\/p>\n<p>Since the inception of KCHA&#8217;s environmental sustainability program in 2007, the Housing Authority has:<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Provided recycling outreach at over 65 multifamily properties, saving $160,000 each year in avoided garbage costs.<\/li>\n<li>Reduced water and energy consumption throughout the housing portfolio, saving over $200,000 each year.<\/li>\n<li>Achieved 3-star or higher Envirostars certification at 39 separate housing sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>King County Housing Authority (KCHA) is the largest provider of affordable housing in the Pacific Northwest and a nationally recognized leader in affordable housing.\u00a0To learn more about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcha.org\/\">KCHA and our Mission visit this link<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Essential Functions<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/kingcohousing\/classspecs\/751728?keywords=resource%20conservation&amp;pagetype=classSpecifications\">Click here for additional details regarding this position&#8217;s classification specification.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Competencies<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Required Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in energy management, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, resource conservation or closely related field\u00a0<strong><u>AND\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Three years of experience in energy conservation and\/or sustainability programs\u00a0<strong><u>OR<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>An equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrates knowledge and\u00a0ability to research various resource conservation programs such as recycling, waste reduction, hazardous waste, environmental purchasing, and energy and water efficiency technology.<\/li>\n<li>Understands technical aspects of the position and continuously builds knowledge, keeping up-to-date on the technical or procedural aspects of the position.\n<ul>\n<li>Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and other analytical software programs to conduct cost-benefit studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Uses critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills to identify problems, analyze and evaluate various solutions, implement solutions, and monitor their effectiveness; ability to analyze data and resolve problems; sees opportunities for creative problem solving while staying within the parameters of good practice; generates unique but workable and useful solutions to difficult problems.<\/li>\n<li>Clearly and effectively\u00a0communicates both verbally and in writing by actively listening and\u00a0sharing relevant information:\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to explain complex or technical information regarding rules, rights, regulations, policies, procedures, programs, or services to answer questions, resolve problems, communicate decisions or actions;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to conduct training sessions for supervisors, employees, and others interested in sustainability programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Establishes and nurtures relationships with stakeholders, regularly inviting feedback and suggestions;
