This work involves leading and collaborating with a diverse group of natural resource professionals in Washington, surrounding states, and in international forums through the Pacific Salmon Commission to ensure that salmon fisheries meet conservation objectives outlined in various agreements and laws like the Endangered Species Act.<\/p>\n With that in mind,<\/em><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n We see a person\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/b>who can communicate messages to all people, clearly and with empathy. This person seeks not only to inform, they seek to educate and create a positive dialogue with all parties involved.<\/p>\n The Puget Sound Salmon Manager<\/em><\/strong><\/b>\u00a0has the responsibility for the management of economically valuable Puget Sound commercial and recreational fisheries.<\/p>\n Picture yourself\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/b>representing\u00a0the agency at public and\/or professional meetings, including the North of Falcon salmon season setting process and regulation hearings. Here you will show your skills working with a team of professionals to inform and build consensus among multi-jurisdictional (including 17 Puget Sound Treaty Tribes) colleagues and constituents regarding harvest, conservation plans, and technical aspects of resource management.<\/p>\n The optimal candidate takes pride\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/b>representing the fishing constituents of Washington State in domestic and international forums and seeking positive outcomes for fishery conservation and harvest opportunities.<\/p>\n Our Puget Sound Salmon Manager<\/em><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Appreciates the responsibility of enhancing Puget Sound Recreational and Commercial Fisheries by utilizing sound research, analyzing data, working with experts to achieve goals. They lead and inspire, plan, train, and supervise the work performed by the Puget Sound Salmon Management unit.\u00a0 They collaborate with State and Tribal Policy representatives, Program Managers, Scientists, Biologists, technicians to co-manage the salmon resources.<\/p>\n They ensure appropriate, safe, and optimum use of the organization’s resources and enhance the growth and effectiveness of employees through timely appraisal and professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n They strive daily to provide the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct and support the State’s goals for a diverse workforce.\n<\/p>\n Qualifications<\/p>\n Required Qualifications:<\/em><\/u><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n A Bachelor\u2019s degree with major study in a natural science (Fish Management, Biology, etc.) Knowledge of:<\/p>\n Can demonstrate experience in the following leadership competencies:<\/em><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n \nWorking Conditions:<\/strong><\/b> Schedule:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n 8AM-5PM Monday – Friday. However, attendance at fishery planning, stakeholder, and state-tribal\u00a0meetings require periodic work outside the normal schedule.<\/p>\n This position is required to travel\u00a0annually as part of the pre-season (North of Falcon \/ Pacific Fishery Management Council) planning\u00a0and negotiation team, and for PSC Panel meetings.<\/p>\n Travel:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n Travel for Pacific Fisheries Management Council process includes destination throughout west coast states including Idaho. International travel may be required for duties associated with the Pacific Salmon Commission.
