There is a possibility of continuing beyond this initial period. The successful applicant will work with NOSC and local school district staff on this project.<\/p>\n<p>The North Olympic Salmon Coalition, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, works to restore wild salmon stocks for families, fishers and local economies through habitat restoration and education on the North Olympic Peninsula. For more information please visit our website at www.nosc.org.<\/p>\n<p>Real Learning, Real Work Education Program<\/p>\n<p>The Real Learning, Real Work education program teaches middle school students the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills necessary to envision, design, and implement their own salmon habitat restoration projects. Through a school-year long series of up to 3 field trips and up to 5 classroom lessons, students explore different habitats, define an engineering problem, and implement their restoration solution. Taking on the role of a restoration professional, students learn how to use new tools, take field notes, and practice adaptive management. They also connect with professionals in the fields of science, engineering and natural resource management so they can envision themselves in STEM careers. Learn about our RLRW program: https:\/\/vimeo.com\/203338547<\/p>\n<p>With schools shifting to virtual learning to start the 2020-2021 school year, we aim to understand teachers\u2019 needs and develop professional, engaging content that delivers Real Learning, Real Work curriculum virtually to the extent possible.<\/p>\n<p>Award Details<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Up to $18,500 available for the scope of work<br \/>\n\u2022 This is a remote position that will engage virtually and in person (for filming as needed) with NOSC staff and volunteers located in the Port Angeles and Port Townsend areas of the North Olympic Peninsula of WA.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible Applicants<\/p>\n<p>Independent Contractors, Non-Profit Organizations, For-Profit Corporations, Tribes, and Institutes of Higher Learning.<\/p>\n<p>Statement of Purpose<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to obtain proposals from motivated, eligible, and qualified individuals and entities to aid the North Olympic Salmon Coalition in:<br \/>\n\u2022 Adapting the Real Learning, Real Work curriculum delivery to a virtual platform<br \/>\no NOSC will collaborate with the applicant on adapting the virtual curriculum; making an AmeriCorps volunteer available and possibly other staff and volunteers as needed.<br \/>\no The applicant will solicit and consider input from local teachers prior to the development of the programming.<br \/>\n\u2022 Leading a collaborative design process for developing online lessons that includes diverse ways to engage students, interactive learning tasks, and both online and offline learning opportunities. This may include recorded content, live learning sessions, micro-learning options, and engaging self-guided learning opportunities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Production of the finished products to include ready-to-use materials for teachers and participants.
