$3,701.00 Monthly<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"term-container\">\n<div class=\"row-fluid summary-section\">\n<div class=\"term-block term-block-left\">\n<div class=\"span4\">\n<div class=\"term-description\">Job Number: 2020-05626<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid summary-section\">\n<div class=\"span2\">\n<div class=\"term-description\">Closing: 8\/19\/2020 11:59 PM Pacific<\/div>\n<div>\nDescription<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>FULL-TIME\/NON-PERMANENT<br \/>\nSCIENTIFIC TECHNICIAN 2 (ST2)<\/p>\n<p>North Coast \u2013 Sol Duc\/Hoh (WRIA 20)<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\n<b><strong>Anticipated Appointment Length is 3.5 Months<br \/>\nOctober 16, 2020 \u2013 January 31, 2021<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is dedicated to preserving, protecting and perpetuating fish, wildlife and ecosystems, while providing sustainable recreational and commercial opportunities dependent on viable fish and wildlife populations.\u00a0 WDFW employees protect and restore critical habitat, strive to facilitate species recovery when necessary, and manage hundreds of fish and wildlife species.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>We are seeking highly motivated and experienced field technicians<\/strong><\/b><b><strong>\u00a0to\u00a0collect field data associated with spawning adult chinook and coho salmon on the Hoh and Sol Duc drainages\u00a0while promoting\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><b><strong>the conservation of Washington State\u2019s salmonid populations.\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\nThe Fish Program within the Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking to fill one (1) Scientific Technician 2 position.<b><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>The duty station for this position is located at 551 Tillicum Lane, Forks, WA.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b><strong>Scientific Technician 2\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>contributes to the mission by providing the data needed to manage recreational and commercial fishing opportunities while ensuring the long-term conservation of salmon and steelhead populations and by contributing to the recovery of federal ESA listed anadromous stocks<\/p>\n<p>Our ideal applicants will have a positive can-do attitude as they collect\/sample data.\u00a0 In addition, the candidate will share our values of trust, respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is eager to work hard and have fun in an environment where there&#8217;s never a dull moment.<\/p>\n<p>Duties<b><strong>KEY DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct spawning ground surveys to obtain redd counts of chinook and coho salmon primarily on foot, and occasionally via drift boat.<\/li>\n<li>Collect biological samples from salmon carcasses in the field \u2013 scales, otoliths, CWT.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews, records, and tabulates adult salmon redd, salmon count and carcass related data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\nThis position requires the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, often outdoors in remote locations over rugged terrain.<br \/>\nWork will involve walking and occasionally rafting in swift-water streams or rivers to survey salmon spawning areas.<br \/>\nWork will occasionally occur during periods of inclement\/adverse weather.<br \/>\nWading\/stream crossings in swift currents and over slick substrate.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Schedule:<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\n40 hours per week and may include work on some weekend days and holidays.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Union<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\nThis position is in the bargaining unit represented by the Washington Association of Fish &amp; Wildlife Professionals and is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the State of Washington, Department of Fish &amp; Wildlife, and the Washington Association of Fish &amp; Wildlife Professionals.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Qualifications<b><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to research and gather information effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Consistently and accurately documents information and updates records\/databases.<\/li>\n<li>Correctly identifies, collects, organizes and documents redd and fish count data.
