The Education &amp; Community Engagement Lead\u00a0will be responsible for\u00a0oversight of SHADOW\u2019s education programs and community engagement activities. This includes creating and leading environmental education programs,\u00a0planning seasonal community events, activities, and fieldtrips (in-person &amp; virtual),\u00a0coordinating with local teachers and school districts, and helping to connect the community to the Nature Preserve.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate\u00a0is driven, well-organized\u00a0and self-sufficient, with\u00a0high emotional intelligence and a passion for environmental education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wage &amp; Schedule\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part-time: 5 &#8211; 15\u00a0hours\/week<\/li>\n<li>$18\/hour<\/li>\n<li>SHADOW&#8217;s work days are Tuesday \u2013 Saturday, schedule will vary depending on program schedule and weekly workload (most Fridays &amp; Saturdays required). Some additional weekend and evening hours will be required with ample notice.<\/li>\n<li>Valid WA State Driver\u2019s License and reliable transportation with current insurance\u00a0are\u00a0required. Position involves some local travel. Reimbursement is available for work related travel and parking expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Location:\u00a0SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is located at\u00a021656 184thAve SE, Renton, WA 98058.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roles &amp; Responsibilities\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Education &amp; Community Engagement (65%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help develop &amp; modify SHADOW\u2019s education programs to include virtual and video experiences directed towards K-12 classrooms, community groups, and families.<\/li>\n<li>Work with SHADOW\u2019s education partners and local school districts to develop virtual and social distancing conscious education programs for K-12 classes.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and lead all SHADOW\u2019s current education programing including in-person and virtual fieldtrips and community activities (minimal in-person events occurring during this time).<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the execution and planning of SHADOW\u2019s major community engagement events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volunteer Management, Office Duties, &amp; Grants (25%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help recruit &amp; oversee education and community engagement volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Assist Executive Director with grant materials for education program and project funding.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to class registrations &amp; education inquiries in a timely, professional manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure accurate data collection of program participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outreach &amp; Promotions (5 &#8211; 10%)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in digital and in-person outreach activities and events as assigned.<\/li>\n<li>Work with SHADOW\u2019s Executive Director to promote and market education program &amp; events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associates degree or two years of college-level coursework in environmental studies\/science or other relevant majors. 4-Year University degree preferred.<\/li>\n<li>One year of\u00a0classroom and\/or outdoor education\u00a0experience is highly desired.<\/li>\n<li>Strong verbal and written communications skills.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable creating digital content including videos and virtual education materials.<\/li>\n<li>Creative, self-motivated, self-starter \u2013 Applicant should be passionate about SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve&#8217;s mission and excited to explore creative ways to advance that mission.<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage projects and groups.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame-how-apply\"><span class=\"how-apply-header\">HOW TO APPLY<\/span><strong>To be considered\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please submit a cover letter and resume in a single PDF to:<\/p>\n<p>Joy Stewart, Executive Director \u2013\u00a0<u>joy<\/u><a href=\"mailto:isabelle@shadowhabitat.org\">@shadowhabitat.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Subject: Education &amp; Community Engagement Lead<\/p>\n<p>Applications\u00a0will be accepted until position is filled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please no phone calls.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SHADOW is an equal opportunity employer.
