If so, then join a great team that shares your interests!<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for applicants who possess excellent people skills, the ability to juggle several high-priority scopes of work, and who want the opportunity to independently problem-solve.<\/p>\n<p>WDFW employees are provided one of the most competitive benefits packages in the nation &#8211; find out more about us and the important work we are a part of at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wdfw.wa.gov\/\">www.wdfw.wa.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking one (1) highly motivated and experienced Scientific Technicians to work alongside a diverse team promoting the conservation of Washington State\u2019s salmonid population.\u00a0 This opportunity is located in Columbia County.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN\">This recruitment is for one (1) 6&#8211;months in the Fish Program, Science \u2013 Hatchery Wild Interactions.\u00a0 The duty station is located at 401 S Cottonwood St, Dayton, WA.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Our ideal applicants will have a positive can-do attitude as they collect\/sample data.\u00a0 In addition, the candidate will share our values of trust, respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is eager to work hard and have fun in an environment where there&#8217;s never a dull moment.<\/p>\n<p>This journey level position is to assist in the collection of field and spawning data necessary to evaluate the mitigation and recovery efforts for primarily fall Chinook (but can also include spring Chinook and summer steelhead) by the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan.\u00a0 This position includes field data collection, accurate data entry into large data sets, and summarization of such data that helps the agency meet its goal of healthy and diverse fish and wildlife populations. The primary purpose of this journey level position is to assist in the sampling and spawning of fall Chinook at Lyons Ferry Hatchery (including recovery and reading of coded-wire tag, biological sampling such as length, sex scales, etc\u2026), conduct spawning ground surveys, data entry and QA\/QC of entered data.\u00a0 The incumbent will also create and upload\/download PIT tag information to\/from the PTAGIS website, and provide data summaries (table and graphs) for annual reports as requested.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Duties<br \/>\n<b>Serves as a non-permanent fall Chinook technician at the Snake River Lab<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Tasks include:<\/b>\u00a0Assists in data entry, QA\/QC of data, reconciliation and summarization of data. Conducts fall Chinook spawning ground and carcass surveys.\u00a0 Assists in fall Chinook spawning and sorting at Lyons Ferry Hatchery.\u00a0 Other duties include CWT retrieval and decoding from fall Chinook spawning and surveys, egg picking at Lyons Ferry, and scale and otolith sampling.<\/p>\n<p><b>Assists other Snake River Lab Biologist\/technicians as needed with the completion of LSRCP work plan tasks.<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/b>Conducts spring Chinook spawning ground and carcass surveys.\u00a0 Assists with spring Chinook spawning at Lyons Ferry Hatchery. May also assist with CWT retrieval and decoding from spring Chinook spawning and surveys.<\/p>\n<p><b>Assisting with stream surveys in the Tucannon River<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/b>Identifying and logging live fish and active fall Chinook and coho redds.\u00a0 Sampling salmonid carcasses that includes measuring fork length, taking DNA and scale samples, identifying presence\/absence of adipose clip and removal of snout for CWT retrieval and decoding.<\/p>\n<p><b>Other duties as required<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/b>Assisting other staff in various needs to ensure projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner.<\/p>\n<p><b>Working Conditions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Schedule:<\/b>\u00a0 8 hours\/5 days per week.
