We serve as the trustee for a network of underwater parks encompassing more than
600,000 square miles of marine and Great Lakes waters. The network includes 13 national marine sanctuaries
all across the country – from just off Cape Cod to American Samoa – and Papahānaumokuākea and Rose Atoll
marine national monuments.

However, we face a challenge: while pretty much everyone knows what a national park is, very few people are
familiar with national marine sanctuaries. We’re seeking creative individuals to develop and design images,
posts, and other social media products that can help people learn about sanctuaries, what they protect, and the
science and recreational opportunities they provide.

You’ll collaborate with the social media coordinate to produce posts for Facebook, Instagram (including
Instagram Stories), Twitter, and Tumblr. Specifically, you’ll be creating posts for our Earth Is Blue campaign
(https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/earthisblue) and helping us expand that effort, and supporting individual sanctuary
sites by collaborating with them to produce up-to-date, compelling content. With your help, we’re looking to
help our audiences engage with sanctuaries in new and exciting ways – and we’re hoping you gain a greater
knowledge of how social media can support ocean conservation and government initiatives.

Required Skills or Interests

Skill(s)

Editing and proofreading

Research

Social media management

Storytelling/blogging/vlogging

Writing

Additional Information

You can learn more about NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries at sanctuaries.noaa.gov.

Find us on social media:
Facebook: https://facebook.com/NOAAOfficeofNationalMarineSanctuaries/
Twitter: @sanctuaries
Instagram and Tumblr: @noaasanctuaries

Language Requirements

None

Website link here: https://vsfs.state.gov/projects/view/2755

"_s2mail":"yes
18
21,7,13,9
