$3,216.00 Monthly<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"term-container\">\n<div class=\"row-fluid summary-section\">\n<div class=\"term-block term-block-left\">\n<div class=\"span4\">\n<div class=\"term-description\">Job Number:\u00a02020-05135<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid summary-section\">\n<div class=\"span2\">\n<div class=\"term-description\">Closing: 7\/21\/2020 11:59 PM Pacific<\/div>\n<div>\nDescription<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><b>FULL-TIME\/NON-PERMANENT<br \/>\nSCIENTIFIC TECHNICIAN 1 (ST1)<\/b><br \/>\nEllensburg, WA<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is dedicated to preserving, protecting and perpetuating fish, wildlife and ecosystems, while providing sustainable recreational and commercial opportunities dependent on viable fish and wildlife populations.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Fish Science Program within the Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking to fill a Scientific Technician 1 position.\u00a0<\/b><b>We are seeking a highly motivated field technician to join a diverse team while promoting the conservation of Washington State\u2019s salmonid and trout populations.\u00a0 This\u00a0<\/b><b>opportunity is located in Kittitas County and the anticipated appointment length<\/b><b>\u00a0is 2.5 Months, August 10th \u2013 October 29th.<\/b>\n<\/div>\n<div>The\u00a0<b>Scientific Technician 1 is an entry level position<\/b>\u00a0that<b>\u00a0<\/b>contributes to the WDFW mission by promoting the strategic initiative to evaluate salmon and steelhead artificial production programs and develop strategies to maximize the benefits of programs while maintaining acceptable risks to naturally spawning populations.<\/p>\n<p>Our ideal applicants will have a positive can-do attitude as they efficiently and accurately collect\/sample data.\u00a0 In addition, the candidates will share our values of trust, respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and are eager to work hard and have fun in an environment where there&#8217;s never a dull moment.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Duties<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<b>KEY DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides management information related to salmonid life cycle models, evaluations of hatchery operations\/strategies, hatchery\/wild interactions science, harvest, and habitat actions.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with completing contract deliverables associated with annual biological studies conducted by the Ecological Interaction Team.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with Entiat River Basin spring Chinook egg-to-fry survival study including equipment preparation, preconstruction of artificial redds, stocking of egg boxes and data entry.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with backpack electrofishing by netting fish, carrying buckets and accurately measuring\/weighing fish, PIT tagging and collecting genetic samples.<\/li>\n<li>Yakima River competition\/capacity work including rafting downriver and snorkeling active precocious male redds.<\/li>\n<li>Equipment repair, data entry and other tasks asked of by senior technicians and biologists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><b>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/b><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Work Setting, including hazards:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Wading and snorkeling in the Yakima River basin in swift and deep water at times.<\/li>\n<li><b>Schedule:<\/b>\u00a0Monday \u2013 Thursday, 7:00 a.m. &#8211;
