The program is in its 24th exciting year!\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">NOSB is looking for scientists and educators with a strong collective knowledge of the ocean sciences &#8211; varying expertise in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, geography, technology, social science and marine policy &#8211; to write &#8220;Buzzer&#8221; and Team Challenge Questions (TCQs) for the 2021 NOSB competitions.\u00a0High school participants are tested at the college undergraduate level. Question writers will be asked to write questions that would be considered moderate or difficult for this level of student. Sample NOSB questions can be found at:\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nosb.org\/learn\/sample-questions\/\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"color: #1d5782\">http:\/\/nosb.org\/learn\/sample-questions\/<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Qualifications\/Eligibility:<\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Degree (preferably masters or higher) in one of the sciences<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Experience teaching (preferably high school or under grad students)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Comfort using databases and social network sites<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Possession of a personal computer and access to the Internet<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Ability to write and enter all 150 required questions in the database by September 8, 2020<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Ability to submit 6 TCQs by email by September 8, 2020<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Must NOT be a current NOSB coach in 2020 (or plan to be in 2021) or have a direct connection with current NOSB participants<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">High interest in staying up to speed on current ocean science research and issues<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">Each Question Writer can earn up to a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><b>$1,000<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">\u00a0stipend. Each question writer will receive a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\"><b>$500<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #232323;font-family: Arial, sans-serif;font-size: small\">\u00a0good faith payment for submitting all required questions by the deadline (150 buzzers &amp; 6 TCQs).
