The positions are career ladder with the full performance level at a\u00a0GS-06.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p10 ft1\">These positions are with the Data Collection Team of the PNW Research Station\u2019s Resource Monitoring and Assessment (RMA) Program, Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) unit. The FIA unit is part of a nationwide program which collects, processes, analyzes, evaluates, and publishes comprehensive information on forest and other related renewable resources. Administration for the Data Collection team is located in Portland, Oregon and field crews are remotely stationed throughout Washington, Oregon and California. These positions support the field staff by preparing forest inventory plot materials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p11 ft1\">The Prefield Forestry Technicians are responsible for tracking, filing, and maintaining over 35,000 forest inventory field plot files. This position researches, assembles and prepares materials for field research work by using databases of historical information and by creating aerial images and maps using ArcGIS software. The incumbents will review plot information for land conditions and interpret land conditions using aerial imagery. These position also assists in the coordination and maintenance of the National Ownership Management database, including data input, record keeping, data retrieval, and correspondence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p12 ft1\"><span class=\"ft6\">T<\/span>hese positions are nonsupervisory and work under the direct supervision of the Prefield Coordinator.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"page_2\">\n<p class=\"p13 ft5\">We are looking for individuals who:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p14 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Have knowledge of forest sampling methods and recording procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p15 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Have the ability to assess land use and forest conditions using aerial imagery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p16 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Have knowledge of database software to enter, query, and manage data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p15 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Have knowledge of ArcGIS software to generate aerial imagery and maps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p17 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Have knowledge of computer applications and technology to produce correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p18 ft1\"><span class=\"ft7\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft8\">Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in order to coordinate work and to write reports that accurately describe\u00a0<\/span>on-the-ground\u00a0conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p19 ft5\">IF YOU\u2019RE INTERESTED&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft1\">If you are interested in the Prefield Forestry Technician positions with Pacific Northwest Research Station in Portland, Oregon, please use the attached response form to express your interest by\u00a0<span class=\"ft9\">July 1, 2020\u00a0<\/span>and you will be notified when the positions are advertised.
