The Communications Manager joins a small, committed team of professionals who make sure nonprofits have what they need to succeed in Washington state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is a new position. The Communications Manager will work well in teams and bring ideas and initiative to the position. They will develop but also implement our communications strategy across a number of platforms. Our communications goals include growing membership, advocating on behalf of nonprofits, and driving participation in learning events.<\/p>\n<h1>Duties and Responsibilities<\/h1>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><strong>Communications<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manage the Washington Nonprofits brand, including brand integrity and visibility across the organization, and training staff on brand and messaging standards.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Design, edit and publish Washington Nonprofits\u2019 print and electronic communications including e-newsletters, annual reports, advocacy alerts, research reports, other publications and collateral.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Serve as quality control and editor on print materials and website.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manage strategy, design, and content development for Washington Nonprofits\u2019 website and digital media.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Facilitate member learning and sharing through various electronic and social media tools.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Member of a team responsible for growing Washington Nonprofits\u2019 membership and increase participation in learning programs.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manage marketing and promotion for the Washington State Nonprofit Conference and the Central Washington Conference for the Greater Good.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Manage, update, and strategize all Washington Nonprofits social media platforms.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Track progress and effectiveness of communications and marketing activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><strong>Public &amp; Media Relations<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Promote Washington Nonprofits to the nonprofit sector, policymakers and the public.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Develop and manage content and messaging about the nonprofit community for internal and external stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Develop and carry out media strategy, including developing and driving media calendar, media relations and tracking press coverage.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Act as a key liaison between Washington Nonprofits and media contacts throughout Washington.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Promote Washington Nonprofits and its staff in the media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><strong>General<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Support and coordinate with other programs, including participation in annual conference or other key events.<\/li>\n<li>As a member of the WN staff team, work on special projects throughout the year.<\/li>\n<li>Represent the organization at events, which may include some travel throughout Washington State.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Desired Qualifications<\/h1>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you possess some of the qualifications below and have a strong interest in learning about the other areas of the job, we encourage you to apply.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong written and oral communication skills.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong project planning, critical thinking and problem solving; self-motivated and self-directed.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Skilled in visual design. Experience with design software and WordPress preferred.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proficient in using social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">2-3 years of experience in communications or a related field.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong networking and relationship management skills.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong comfort using technology, including cloud-based apps and software.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Valid driver\u2019s license and access to a car or ability to rent a car as needed for travel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><strong>General Skills and Requirements for all Washington Nonprofit Staff<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Commitment to our mission.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Excellent customer service skills.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Outstanding verbal\/written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) is required.
