Create a poster to share what you love about the Puget Sound, and enter your art for the chance to win at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcls.org\/we-are-puget-sound\">www.kcls.org\/we-are-puget-sound<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe Are Puget Sound\u201d is an award-winning book and advocacy campaign created by Braided River and WEC in partnership with dozens of regional tribes, organizations, businesses and individuals. Launched in October 2019, the campaign uses photography, live events and storytelling to engage the public with meaningful actions to protect endangered orca and salmon, and clean the Salish Sea.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to participate in this important partnership to help preserve the Puget Sound and our communities,\u201d states KCLS Executive Director Lisa Rosenblum. \u201cWe encourage King County residents\u00a0to get creative, and look forward to seeing their artwork.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contest submissions are due on June 12. Winners will be announced in three age categories on June 26:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ages 5-12<\/li>\n<li>Ages 13-18<\/li>\n<li>Ages 19 and older<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Posters will be judged by a team of staff from KCLS, Mountaineers Books and WEC. Each winner will receive a copy of the \u201cWe Are Puget Sound<em>\u201d <\/em>book in the mail, and winning posters will be published on the contest partners\u2019 websites and shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cherish the opportunity to collaborate with KCLS and WEC to inspire people of all ages to celebrate and protect these beautiful Salish Sea waters for the people and animals who call them home,\u201d states Braided River Executive Director Helen Cherullo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We love this collaborative way to\u00a0express\u00a0art\u00a0through\u00a0peoples&#8217; experiences and connections with places they love,&#8221; adds Mindy Roberts,\u00a0WEC\u00a0Puget Sound Program Director\u00a0and contributing author\u00a0of\u00a0&#8220;We Are Puget Sound.\u201d \u201cGetting folks to\u00a0explore and enjoy the Puget Sound\u00a0through their\u00a0own\u00a0eyes and hearts is a perfect way to get\u00a0them\u00a0engaged.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT KING COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM<\/strong><br \/>\nFounded in 1942, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcls.org\">King County Library System<\/a> (KCLS) is one of the busiest public library systems in the country.
