The intern will live and work with other SCA interns, as well as working alongside Navy staff. Some projects may be performed individually and a high level of independence and \ufb02exibility is needed from the intern.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a variety of potential projects, which include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform surveys for spawning forage\u00a0fish;<\/li>\n<li>Conduct haul-out surveys of pinnipeds at Navy\u00a0installations;<\/li>\n<li>Prepare marine mammal monitoring\u00a0report;<\/li>\n<li>Repare forage fish survey\u00a0report;<\/li>\n<li>Perform surveys for shoreline erosion, invasive plant species, and shoreline\u00a0armoring;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with management \/ administrative efforts to remove invasive plant\u00a0species;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in nearshore beach\u00a0seining;<\/li>\n<li>Assist with writing natural resources management\u00a0plans;<\/li>\n<li>Monitor raptor nests and document nest\u00a0productivity;<\/li>\n<li>Perform GIS\u00a0mapping;<\/li>\n<li>Analyses and report writing of field\u00a0data;<\/li>\n<li>Marine mammal\u00a0censusing;<\/li>\n<li>Mapping habitat and terrestrial wildlife\u00a0inventories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compensation amounts:<br \/>\n&#8211; $1,100- one time RT travel allowance<br \/>\n&#8211; $275 &#8211; weekly living allowance<br \/>\n&#8211; $1,100- monthly housing allowance<br \/>\n&#8211; $1,500 Reimbursable Duty Travel allowance<br \/>\n&#8211; $500 Reimbursable PPE\/ Additional Clothing budget<\/p>\n<p>*All allowances subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b>\u00a0the advertised start date of June 1st is contingent upon the NAVFAC o\ufb03ce resuming normal (open) operations after current work-at-home orders are lifted and the Task Order to be awarded.\u00a0 Interview &amp; Selection will take place in May.\u00a0 Consequently, the start date may be\u00a0delayed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul class=\"main-extras\">\n<li><label>Location Description<\/label>\n<div>Naval Facilities Northwest (NAVFAC Northwest) is situated on the Kitsap peninsula on the Puget Sound and is surrounded by some of the most extraordinary sites in the Pacific Northwest. To the west is the Olympic peninsula, home to Olympic National Park and National Forest. To the east is the metropolis of Seattle. Further east is the magnificent Cascade range where recreational opportunities abound.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li><label>Training Provided<\/label>\n<div>Intern will undergo on the job training while external training in various natural resource disciplines may be possible.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li><label>Educational\/Recreational Opportunities<\/label>\n<div>Recreational opportunities are plentiful in the surrounding area.
