Ideally one Coordinator will focus on Snohomish and North King County and the second will focus on South King and Pierce county. These positions are responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with school districts, educational leaders, nonformal educators and local agricultural, natural resource and environmental science professionals to facilitate planning and implementation of FieldSTEM. This is a home or field-based position requiring travel within, but not limited to, the East Sound region identified as King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. Candidate is expected to live within this region. PEI is a statewide organization headquartered in Olympia, Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Primary Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Represent PEI in the East Sound Region<br \/>\no Be a positive ambassador of PEI and work within the mission to implement our strategic plan goals.<br \/>\no Provide regional planning, support and reporting for PEI.<br \/>\no Attend statewide PEI program professional learning workshops\/retreats.<br \/>\no Generate regional media content for PEI\u2019s social marketing and outreach efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 School District, School Building and Teacher Networking<br \/>\no Engage and recruit districts, schools and teachers to initiate systemic FieldSTEM implementation.<br \/>\no Conduct a FieldSTEM assessment annually with districts, schools and teachers to determine implementation status and track progress.<br \/>\no Facilitate the on-going work of districts and schools to embed FieldSTEM.<br \/>\no Inform districts and schools about opportunities for field-based science education.<br \/>\no Work with PEI Program Director to develop a cadre of teacher leaders to function as the point of contact for teachers in their district regarding implementation of the FieldSTEM model. Provide leadership, support and expertise to the teacher leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Professional Learning and Regional Meeting Coordination<br \/>\no Coordinate professional development; working with PEI Faculty, facilitators and staff to create outcomes, secure facilities, provide a PEI presence at the event, assist with follow up and evaluation.<br \/>\no Coordinate regional meetings to communicate with teachers, district liaisons, consultants, business and organization partners, and other stakeholders as needed.<br \/>\no Work with PEI Program Director to develop a cadre of FieldSTEM Facilitators to offer FieldSTEM professional learning opportunities.<br \/>\no Coordinate FieldSTEM workshops for formal and nonformal educators and community partners.<br \/>\no Design and deliver professional learning opportunities when required.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Community Partner Development<br \/>\no Conduct and maintain a community asset inventory identifying partners (businesses, NGO\u2019s, federal and state agencies, etc.) that can support the FieldSTEM model in the region.<br \/>\no Facilitate community partner to school connections. Function as the point of contact for community partners regarding FieldSTEM. Provide leadership, assistance and expertise to community partners.<br \/>\no Assist in the development of career-connected learning opportunities for students.<br \/>\no Assist in the development of field-based learning opportunities for students.<\/p>\n<p>Desired Qualifications<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s Degree and 3+ years of experience as a formal classroom educator.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience working with and leading adults; skilled in meeting and workshop facilitation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Self-directed, takes initiative to follow through on plans and projects.<br \/>\n\u2022 Professional, positive, creative, flexible.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.<br \/>\n\u2022 Outgoing, committed to education, teachers and students; works well with all people.<br \/>\n\u2022 Up to date on current initiatives in education, e.g. Common Core, NGSS, Washington State Standards.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of the natural resource, agricultural, renewable energy, outdoor recreation and environmental science sectors preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022 Understanding of current environmental and sustainability issues such as climate change impacts and solutions preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to provide own transportation and proof of auto insurance coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Wages and Employment Information<\/p>\n<p>This is a 40 hour per week position. Wages are $28.00 &#8211; $32.00 per hour dependent on successful applicant\u2019s qualifications and experience.
