Thankfully, those COVID-19 social distancing requirements that prevented bringing people together in the same space didn\u2019t keep participants from connecting and sharing \u2013 it was a lively and engaging event that was trending at #3 on Twitter at one point.<\/p>\n<p>If anything, the enthusiasm for the Salish Sea was even more apparent. Northwest Straits Commission staffer Dana Oster\u2019s presentation,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/webmail.evergreen.edu\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=S5xGqgNptY_C3uZZnLyDLV83uNZ9CiO8uJJ6Z6SpeGJk4MY2vfLXCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2fnam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com%2f%3furl%3dhttps%253A%252F%252Fnwstraits.us1.list-manage.com%252Ftrack%252Fclick%253Fu%253D7e31dba6f365dc376e4a4e00f%2526id%253Dae04143de7%2526e%253D08c87231c7%26data%3d02%257C01%257Crubickt%2540evergreen.edu%257Ceeab22fd74a74506940508d7eded308e%257C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%257C0%257C0%257C637239475303764649%26sdata%3dJ3ggoCNHJYbtL4AYVwNC5pZqdEvze0AJuXFQBGOO%252FQA%253D%26reserved%3d0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #6dc6dd\"><i>Monitoring Salish Sea bull kelp via kayak surveys<\/i><\/span><\/a>, on day two reached an estimated audience of 800 participants! It was a great opportunity to reach more people, and a more diverse audience, than would have been possible at an in-person event.<\/p>\n<p>The Zoom sessions will be posted to the conference website soon.
