<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThe Palouse Conservation District\u2019s (PCD) mission is to actively assist current and future generations of land managers (rural and urban) in implementing conservation practices by providing educational, technical, and financial assistance. The District works through voluntary, incentive-based programs to assist residents, landowners and agricultural operators with the conservation of natural resources throughout the District.<\/p>\n
The member will be responsible for activities such as riparian buffer project planning; planting riparian buffers for increased water quality; invasive\/noxious weed eradication; restoration project site maintenance; volunteer coordination and management and water quality monitoring.<\/p>\n
The AmeriCorps member will serve with local schools and citizens to develop and deliver educational activities. Education activities will include providing educational programs to students, landowners, and volunteers through workshops and outreach materials on local watershed and natural resource issues, benefits of conservation areas, benefits of riparian areas, and water quality protection.<\/p>\n
The three primary goals of this project are:<\/p>\n
1) To improve water quality by achieving increased survivability of riparian buffer and upland plantings;<\/p>\n
2) To coordinate volunteer participation at watershed restoration projects;<\/p>\n
3) To educate and raise community awareness on the importance of riparian buffers and the impacts of non-point source pollution within our local watersheds.<\/p>\n
This is a 10.5 month position with alternative start and end dates. A stipend is provided and an education award is available for members who successfully complete their service term<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
