IWRA is pleased\u00a0to inform you about the\u00a0extension of the deadline for its call to develop a mentored\u00a0Water International<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Special Issue\u00a0with papers\u00a0written by\u00a0early-career\u00a0water professionals\u00a0<\/strong>that are either co-authored with or supervised by senior water professionals.<\/p>\n

Early-career water professionals are now invited to\u00a0submit an abstract<\/strong>\u00a0of their research by Friday, May 29th 2020\u00a0to apply for\u00a0an exceptional publication opportunity with\u00a0Water International<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 Through this mentorship programme,\u00a0they will benefit from\u00a0a valuable\u00a0chance to work and network with established senior water\u00a0professionals and\u00a0experts.<\/div>\n

The IWRA mentoring initiative is intended to identify, attract, and assist young and early-career scholars and water professionals. The objective of the programme is to guide these individuals in preparing articles to be published in the Association\u2019s journal,\u00a0Water International<\/em>.\u00a0 The selection process will seek\u00a0diverse participants, from developed and developing countries, representing a range of expertise.<\/p>\n

The special issue, to appear in 2021, will endeavor\u00a0to promote\u00a0interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity<\/strong>.\u00a0 It will encourage integrated-systems approaches in water research, avoiding very specific and narrow topics.\u00a0 Of particular interest are innovations on policies, management, development, and technological development that look to the present as well as the future.<\/p>\n

Each selected participant will be paired with a senior mentor who will help guide the paper as an advisor or, possibly, a coauthor.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Early-career water professionals are<\/strong>\u00a0academics, such as assistant professors or post-docs\u00a0with no more than 5 years in a full-time academic position, or\u00a0advanced post-graduate students;\u00a0or professionals working in the water sector (utility, government or NGOs with at least a bachelor\u2019s degree).<\/p>\n

Candidates should be either\u00a035 years of age or younger<\/strong>,\u00a0or<\/strong>\u00a0be able demonstrate that they have started their\u00a0water-resources career within the past 5 years<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

  1. An\u00a0extended abstract,\u00a0in English,<\/strong>\u00a0of 3-4 pages\u00a0providing adequate insight into the topic, thesis, and methodology being used.<\/li>\n
  2. A complete,\u00a0updated CV<\/strong>\u00a0(no more than 3\u00a0pages)<\/li>\n
  3. A\u00a0cover letter\u00a0<\/strong>describing the\u00a0motivation for participating in this initiative together with the applicants’\u00a0career objectives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
