Responsibilities<\/p>\n
These positions are located with Coos Bay District, Bureau of Land Management in North Bend, Oregon.<\/p>\n
The incumbents help ensure that the Coos Bay District is in compliance with USFWS survey requirements. The positions work closely with contractors through the season to address emerging questions and ensure the Northern Spotted Owl and GEOBob corporate database while managing wildlife observational attributes and locations. This includes population, habitat, positive and negative surveys and accurate voucher data. The incumbents would also support the wildlife program such as bat and other sensitive species monitoring, winter bird surveys, habitat improvement projects and wildlife restoration efforts.<\/p>\n
Physical Demands:\u00a0Work requires some physical exertion such as bending and walking in terrain that is rough, rocky, mountainous and densely vegetated. Required to lift and carry equipment necessary to efficiently perform the work of the position, and to provide for personal comfort and safety. This can include tools, personal protective equipment, food and water for extended periods of work away from vehicles.<\/p>\n
Work Environment:\u00a0Office work is performed in an adequately lighted, ventilated, cooled and heated area. Fieldwork is often performed at night.\u00a0 During fieldwork incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises, extreme and adverse weather conditions, and injuries and discomforts from pests and animals.
