To learn more, visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.nature.org<\/a>\u00a0or follow @nature_press on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conservation Forester is responsible for executing forest stewardship and management activities on The Nature Conservancy\u2019s Central Cascades forest holdings (40,000 acres) and on adjacent public lands, including those owned by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington Department of Natural Resources and the United States Forest Service.<\/p>\n<p>The Conservation Forester works closely with staff, partners, and contractors to restore forest health and stream habitat at a landscape scale in the Central Cascades while also striving to deliver social and economic benefits to the surrounding community. They may also assist, as needed, with forest management on the Conservancy\u2019s or Partner\u2019s forest holdings in the Willapa Bay or the Olympics Rainforest areas where the Conservancy manages approx. 35,000 acres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Skills &amp; Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate\u2019s degree and 5 years\u2019 experience in natural resource management OR Bachelor\u2019s degree and 3 years\u2019 experience in natural resource management OR equivalent combination of education and experience.<\/li>\n<li>3 years\u2019 experience managing active logging projects, or commercial thinning and heavy equipment contractors.<\/li>\n<li>Experience using ArcView GIS, GPS, data loggers, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) software.<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to complete multiple tasks independently with respect to timeline(s), budgets and deliverables.<\/li>\n<li>Must have valid driver&#8217;s license and experience operating four-wheel drive vehicles on remote forest roads.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate and negotiate under stressful situations with contractors, partners, forest users, and community members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame-how-apply\"><span class=\"how-apply-header\">HOW TO APPLY<\/span>For more information and to apply, please visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.org\/careers\">www.nature.org\/careers<\/a>\u00a0and search for job ID# 48587 in the keyword search.<strong>\u00a0Deadline to apply is 11:59 PM EST March 27, 2020.<\/strong>\u00a0The Nature Conservancy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
