Staff Scientist\/Hydrogeologist<\/p>\n
GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. specializes in soil, water, and ecological sciences and has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist\/hydrogeologist to join our dynamic team. Based within our Hood River, OR office, you will work closely with small teams to design and implement studies within the fields of groundwater resources, habitat restoration, and mine reclamation. Responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n
\u2022<\/span>Apply knowledge of hydrologic processes and use data sets to describe unsaturated flow, groundwater recharge and groundwater movement.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Numerical groundwater and unsaturated flow modeling.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Undertake field work for investigative and monitoring purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Interpret data to assess and predict the impact of land use activities on soil and groundwater quality and resource availability.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Communicate with other hydrogeologists, hydrologists, ecologists, engineers and other professionals in related fields.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Create reports for clients which can be understood by people who don\u2019t necessarily have a technical background.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Work within established health and safety guidelines.<\/span><\/p>\n The position requires:<\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>MS in Soil Science or Hydrology or other Natural Sciences field and minimum of 2 years of experience.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Excellent writing skills and knowledge of standard computer software (i.e. MS Office).<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Experience in<\/span><\/p>\n o<\/span>GIS analysis;<\/span><\/p>\n o<\/span>numerical modeling;<\/span><\/p>\n o<\/span>field data collection; data analysis and report writing.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Willingness to engage in business development.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Travel to project sites ranging from the western USA to South America.<\/span><\/p>\n \u2022<\/span>Independent thinking and the ability to work with minimal supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n Written and spoken fluency in Spanish and English is highly desirable.<\/p>\n GeoSystems Analysis, Inc. offers a very competitive salary, excellent health insurance, SIMPLE IRA benefits and opportunity to progress into a higher role.
