South Puget Sound, the Nisqually, Chehalis and Deschutes Rivers, and myriad lakes and streams offer Thurston County residents and guests wonderful water views and playgrounds. But, as Rochester resident Dale Grulke points out:
\n\u201cYou really don\u2019t know how important water is until it\u2019s not there anymore.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Urgent factors face Thurston County\u2019s water supply: longer, drier summers; shorter wet rainy periods; growing population; local streams that support fewer salmon; ground water reservoirs that can\u2019t sufficiently recharge.<\/p>\n
