The incumbent will share our values of trust, respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will want to work hard and have fun in a team environment where there&#8217;s never a dull moment.<\/p>\n<p>In this three month (mid-April to July)\u00a0position you will be assisting with Western Pond Turtle (WPT) population and disease monitoring by performing the following key duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set traps and participate in capture, marking and release of WPT<\/li>\n<li>Attach radio transmitters to female WPT and use telemetry to find and monitor nests<\/li>\n<li>Data entry and maintenance of electronic records<\/li>\n<li>Participate in disease monitoring in collaboration with State and zoo veterinarians<\/li>\n<li>Preparation and maintenance of extensive field equipment related to WPT work<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates field survey efforts with biologists and volunteers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Qualifications<strong><u>Required Qualifications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation from high school or GED, including one year of high school science, and<\/li>\n<li>Two years of experience as a Scientific Technician 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation from high school or GED including one year of high school science, and<\/li>\n<li>Two years of laboratory or field experience as an assistant to a biologist, chemist, or zoologist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note: College course work involving major study in biology, zoology, fisheries, chemistry, natural sciences, or closely allied field will substitute, year for year, for experience, provided the course work includes at least six semester or nine quarter hours of natural science classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Wildlife population relationships and ecology.<\/li>\n<li>Wildlife survey methods.<\/li>\n<li>Scientific principles and techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Personal computer hardware and software (Microsoft Office).
