We take innovative, unconventional approaches to tackling some of the world\u2019s hardest problems \u2013 from restoring ocean health, to combating climate change, to disrupting the cycle of homelessness.<\/p>\n<p>The Philanthropic Research and Analysis Intern will be an integral part of Vulcan\u2019s Philanthropy team, supporting ad-hoc research and analysis to inform Vulcan\u2019s wider programmatic initiatives. They will provide direct analytical and research support around all of Vulcan\u2019s key philanthropic initiatives; Ocean Health, Wildlife Conservation, Climate Change or Communities. Over the summer there will be multiple opportunities to present research to the broader Philanthropy team and executive leadership at Vulcan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct primary and secondary research across a variety of topical areas (Examples of past research topics include Causes of forest fires; carbon sequestration strategies; Review of Vulcan historic giving to local community programs.)<\/li>\n<li>Undertake assigned analytical research, working group support tasks and deliver regular results to Working Groups, Portfolio Managers and key department team members<\/li>\n<li>Synthesize, prioritize and present findings into clear reporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Skills and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled in a graduate program; undergraduates with extensive research experience will be considered.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in philanthropy\/social impact required; past professional experience in philanthropy or social impact particularly in the areas of climate, oceans, conservation or communities a big plus<\/li>\n<li>Ability to provide in depth research and write clear and concise analyses<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills: written, verbal, presentation skills, professionalism and discretion<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable working quickly with fluid situations and ever changing challenges<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners at all levels<\/li>\n<li>Ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects and initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills: written, verbal, presentation skills, professionalism and discretion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>We\u2019re committed to inclusion and equal opportunity.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
