This position is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with school districts, educational leaders, informal educators and local agricultural, natural resource and environmental science professionals to facilitate planning and implementation of FieldSTEM. This is a home or\u00a0field-based\u00a0position requiring travel within, but not limited to, the Lower Columbia region identified as Cowlitz, Clark and Skamania and a western portion of Klickitat Counties. Candidate is expected to live in this region. PEI is a statewide organization headquartered in Olympia, Washington.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6 ft4\">Primary Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p class=\"p7 ft7\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft6\">Represent PEI in the Lower Columbia Region<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Be a positive ambassador of PEI\u2019s program and work within the mission to implement our strategic plan goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft11\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft10\">Provide regional planning, support and reporting for PEI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft13\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft12\">Attend statewide PEI program professional learning workshops\/retreats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Generate regional media content for PEI\u2019s social marketing and outreach efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p9 ft7\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft6\">School District, School Building and Teacher Networking<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Engage and recruit districts, schools and teachers to initiate systemic FieldSTEM implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft13\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft12\">Conduct a FieldSTEM assessment annually with districts, schools and teachers to determine implementation<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p10 ft11\">status and track progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft11\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft10\">Facilitate the\u00a0<\/span>on-going\u00a0work of districts and schools to embed FieldSTEM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft13\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft12\">Inform districts and schools about opportunities for\u00a0<\/span>field-based\u00a0science education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p11 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Work with PEI Program Director to develop a cadre of teacher leaders to function as the point of contact for teachers in their district regarding implementation of the FieldSTEM model. Provide leadership, support and expertise to the teacher leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p12 ft7\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft6\">Professional Learning and Regional Meeting Coordination<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p13 ft11\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft10\">Coordinate professional learning opportunities; working with PEI Faculty, Facilitators and staff to create outcomes, secure facilities, assist with outreach, provide a PEI presence at the event, assist with follow up and evaluation. Coordinate regional meetings to communicate with teachers, district liaisons, consultants, business and organization partners, and other stakeholders as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Work with PEI Program Director to develop a cadre of FieldSTEM Facilitators to offer FieldSTEM workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Coordinate FieldSTEM workshops and training for formal and informal educators and community partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Facilitate professional learning opportunities when appropriate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p14 ft7\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft6\">Community Partner Development<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p8 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Conduct and maintain a community asset inventory identifying partners (businesses, NGO\u2019s, federal and state<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p10 ft3\">agencies, etc.) that can support the FieldSTEM model in the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p15 ft3\"><span class=\"ft8\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft9\">Facilitate community partner to school connections. Function as the point of contact for community partners regarding FieldSTEM. Provide leadership, assistance and expertise to community partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"page_2\">\n<p class=\"p17 ft18\"><span class=\"ft15\">o<\/span><span class=\"ft16\">Assist in the development of\u00a0<\/span>career-connected\u00a0learning opportunities for students.\u00a0<span class=\"ft17\">o\u00a0<\/span>Assist in the development of\u00a0field-based\u00a0learning opportunities for students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p18 ft4\">Qualifications<\/p>\n<p class=\"p19 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Bachelor\u2019s Degree and 3+ years of experience as a formal classroom educator.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Experience working with and leading adults; skilled in meeting and workshop facilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Self-directed,<\/span>\u00a0takes initiative to follow through on plans and projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Professional, positive, creative, flexible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft13\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft20\">Outgoing, committed to education, teachers and students; works well with all people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft13\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft20\">Up-to-date<\/span>\u00a0on current initiatives in education, e.g. Common Core, NGSS, Washington State Standards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Knowledge of the natural resource, agricultural and environmental science sectors preferred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p20 ft3\"><span class=\"ft5\">\u2022<\/span><span class=\"ft19\">Ability to provide own transportation and proof of auto insurance coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p21 ft4\">Wages and Employment Information<\/p>\n<p class=\"p22 ft3\">This is a 20 hour per week, 0.5 FTE position (with the potential to become .75 FTE). Wages are $25.00 &#8211; $30.00 per hour dependent on successful applicant\u2019s qualifications and experience.
