I stepped away to pursue a doctorate in Energy and Environmental Policy at the University of Delaware, but returned to continue educating MES students as I finished that degree. I retired from teaching in June 2024. I have now turned my attention to educating a broader audience about the many interactions between policy, technology, economics\/investments, energy source and resources, climate change, and the impacts on society. In November 2024, former MES Director and faculty member Dr. John Perkins and I presented our work at a conference of the Indian Ecological Society in Ludhiana, Punjab. We are currently collaborating on papers that emerged from that conference as well as a book on the transition to a cleaner energy future. I serves as a Senior Research Fellow and editor for the Foundation for Renewable Energy and Environment (FREE). I also continue to press our Washington State legislators and agencies to adopt policies that support a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels. In my spare time, I enjoys walking our dogs, reading mystery novels, and engaging in needle work of all kinds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I started teaching at Evergreen soon after graduation.
