Stephanie Blumhagen graduated in 2012 with a dual MES/MPA degree. She returned to North Dakota in 2013 to be nearer to family and the family farm. Since then, she has worked in local food and sustainable agriculture and is currently the Executive Director of FARRMS, a nonprofit supporting small-scale sustainable farmers. (www.farrms.org) She lives in the small town of Bottineau, near the Canadian border with her husband, Robear, and 11.7 pound cat, Bertie. She enjoys cycling and in summer 2017 Stephanie and Robear cycle-toured through Europe starting in Barcelona and ending in Paris.
Stephanie is passionate about local grains and artisan baking. In 2014, she launched Meadowlark Granary (www.nodakbread.com) selling home-milled flour, baking mixes, and 100% wholegrain bread using wheat grown on her family’s farm. She is currently working on transitioning 10 acres of her family’s farm to certified organic production. Stephanie is a Master Gardener Intern through NDSU Extension and she also enjoys knitting, hiking, camping, and cooking.
