Hi everyone! I am an MES graduate from 2018 and am currently serving as the Assistant Director of MES since March 2020. I am a two-time Greener grad, receiving the BA/BS in 2015; a Bachelor of Arts focusing in Gothic and Classical Architecture and Literature and a Bachelor of Science focusing on Pacific Northwest Environmental Science. I came back to Evergreen for my MES and during my time in the program, I served as the MES Program Assistant and really fell in love with higher education and helping fellow students find their way through education. After completing MES in 2018, I immediately started a position at South Puget Sound Community College working in Financial Aid as an Advisor to students. I enjoyed my time at SPSCC and grew a lot as a professional in my career from that position.
In my current role as Assistant Director, I support graduate enrollment management and the success of current graduate students in the MES program. I get to work closely with students from the start of their Evergreen journey, meeting with prospective and admitted students for admissions counseling, academic and career advising for current students, and program support and management through commencement. One of my favorite roles I have is being one of the staff advisors of the Masters of Environmental Studies Association (MESA), a graduate student club for MES students who continue to bring in amazing talks and host fabulous Rachel Carson Forums each year for the community.
I love the MES students and alumni; they are some of the most thoughtful and compassionate people; who really want to make the world a better place and I love helping them get to do that. It is really important that we have thoughtful and compassionate critical thinkers in environmental leadership in order to address the huge need in the environmental sector. I love that my job is to support people in becoming successful environmental leaders.
In my personal life, I met my partner, Joe, at SPSCC in 2018 and my family has expanded to include his 13-year-old son, AJ, whom I have had the privilege watching grow up since he was 7. My days are now filled with the awesome people I get to work with in MES and at Evergreen as a whole, and my weekends are filled with family, friends, and AJ’s soccer games.
