I have a BS in Geology from UMass Amherst and the topography and volcanoes of Washington is what initially drew me to the area. After spending some years with lots of time to hike around, I became more interested and curious about the ecosystems of the area and how all of it interacts. I also became interested in communicating about the natural world with people, in particular audiences who didn’t necessarily share my same interest. Evergreen seemed like a great fit with the focus on interdisciplinarity and relationships between us and the non-human world, and it certainly has not disappointed. I work for the Sustainability in Prisons Project on campus, helping to coordinate one of the native plant nurseries. I have loved learning about the prairies and the associated plants and have found delivering education and training in a nontraditional space to be very satisfying and rewarding.
