More than 500 individuals from the Evergreen community and beyond participated in a series of Public Seminars on Reimagining Community Safety<\/a> that Eirik Steinhoff <\/a>curated and hosted in Winter-Spring 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Summer 2021, Eirik served as a faculty co-pilot for New Student Programs and helped welcome Evergreen\u2019s 50th cohort of incoming of students with the practices of close reading, free writing, geodesic-dome building, kitemaking, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eirik was the Oral History Scholar for Fall 2021 and Winter 2022. He dedicated his energy to researching and writing about key inflection points in Evergreen\u2019s 50-year history. A brief excerpt from this inquiry was published in the May 2022 issue of Works in Progress<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Off-campus Eirik\u2019s advocacy for naturally regenerated structurally complex forests on public land kicked into high gear. In 2021 he co-founded the Legacy Forest Project. He is a founding board member of the Center for Responsible Forestry<\/a>, and was featured in a radio spot on Northwest Public Broadcast called \u201cThe fight for legacy forests<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
