Her talk for 2021-23 is entitled <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.humanities.org\/speaker\/nancy-koppelman-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Understanding Israel.&#8221;<\/a> She has given the talk seven times by invitation to organizations and institutions throughout the state, with more engagements scheduled over the next year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Evergreen is one of five American campuses in the country receiving a $75,000 three-year grant to promote antisemitism awareness and provide education about Jewish life, past and present, in the United States and around the world. The other campuses are City University of New York (CUNY), the University of Minnesota, the University of California at Berkeley, and Yale University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty member and alumna Nancy Koppelman (\u201988) will direct the grant\u2019s activities. Evergreen will become a local and regional hub for national and international resources that help to carry out the grant\u2019s aims. Nancy will work with campus and community advisory group to develop programming and do outreach to Jewish communities and organizations. The grant\u2019s efforts are part of Evergreen\u2019s work to promote and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The granting organization is the <a href=\"https:\/\/academicengagement.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic Engagement Network<\/a> (AEN), a national higher education nonprofit funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schusterman.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies<\/a>, founded in 1987, which supports criminal justice reform, K-20 education, voting rights, gender and reproductive equity, LGBTQ rights, and Jewish communities around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nancy Koppelman has been selected for the second time to be on the Speakers Bureau for Humanities Washington.
