Welcome to our new Undocumented\/Underserved Student Support Specialist Please welcome Juanita Hopkins, our new Undocumented\/Underserved Student Support Specialist. Juanita recently graduated from Evergreen with an emphasis in mathematics. As a first-generation student and daughter of immigrants, Juanita is passionate about helping students navigate institutional systems and connect them with the resources they need to succeed.  

Housed within First Peoples, Juanita’s position seeks to serve the needs of undocumented students, immigrant students, students with DACA, and students from mixed status families. Juanita\u2019s purpose is to help students achieve their educational and personal goals by advocating for institutional resources and fostering systems of support within and beyond the campus community. Juanita will be working closely with the Basic Needs Center, the Undocumented Student Task Force, and the Latinx Standing Committee. She can provide confidential, culturally relevant support in both English and Spanish, tailored to individual needs of students. For more information about how you can support undocumented students, see the handout: \u201c10 Ways You Can Support Undocumented Students at Evergreen<\/strong><\/a>.\u201d   Equity Action Plans Remote Summit | Wednesday November 17, 1-3pm Teams from across Evergreen are in the process of creating Equity Action Plans for their areas, as a follow-up to their work at our summer institute. Equity Action Plans are a way for teams to define goals, establish milestones, and identify key activities to further equity in their work areas. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact us<\/strong><\/a>.   President’s Equity Fund accepting applications for Winter and Spring The President\u2019s Equity Fund provides grants up to $2000 to current students, staff, and faculty to fund grassroots programming in support of equity and inclusion at Evergreen. Applications for Winter quarter programming are due on Friday, December 31 at 5pm<\/strong>, and applications for Spring quarter are due on Friday, March 25 at 5pm<\/strong>.

Did you miss any of our Fall equity events? Recordings are now available IIjeoma Oluo<\/strong>, who spoke at Evergreen Tacoma on October 5<\/strong><\/a>, is a self-described writer, speaker, and internet yeller. She is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, So You Want to Talk About Race and Mediocre: the Dangerous Legacy of White Male America<\/em>. She lives in Seattle, Washington.  Paulette Jordan<\/strong> is an inspiring, barrier-breaking leader in tribal and electoral politics in Idaho, who spoke on October 13<\/strong><\/a> to mark Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Day and National Coming Out Day.  On October 18, Evergreen hosted the second Womxn of Color Legislators Panel<\/strong><\/a>. <\/strong>Senators Mona Das and Emily Randall, and Representatives Debra Entenman and My-Lin Thai took part in this exciting panel discussion, which was co-facilitated by Deans Dr. Marcia Tate Arunga and Cholee Gladney.   <\/td><\/tr>
