Dear colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m pleased to announce our\ncommon read for next year: adrienne maree brown\u2019s Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>This\nbook is a few years old, but its invitation to think about social change in\nterms of \u201ccritical connections over critical mass\u201d is still relevant,\npractical, and inspiring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our library has a copy of the\ne-book if you\u2019re interested in checking it out. And everyone is welcome to\nattend a session on the text at the Designing Learning Experiences that Matter\nsummer institute (there\u2019s still time to sign up! \u2014  https:\/\/evergreensc.sjc1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_8crlo4DovsXSDSm<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Simonetti and her\nstaff at the First Peoples Multicultural, Trans, and Queer Support Services\nhave graciously agreed to convene a panel of guests to help welcome our new\nstudents and to kick off the roster of events leading up to the spring Equity\nSymposium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will announce the section\nof the book we will be asking new students to focus on by the end of June, but\nfor those of you planning your fall syllabi now, we wanted to flag this in case\nyou wanted to incorporate Emergent Strategy <\/em>into your thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
