Dear colleagues, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the risk of exceeding my quota for\nall faculty emails (I will stop after this!), I wanted to amplify and lift up\nthe message from Ariel pasted below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Writing Center does amazing work\nsupporting students with their Academic Statements. But most\nstudents (sadly!) don\u2019t go to the Writing Center for help. Faculty\nare still their\nfirst, last, and best chance of getting meaningful feedback\u2014especially\non the final version that goes onto the transcript.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With\nthat in mind, here are 3 requests:    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) Please look\nout for messages from your path conveners about some of the mentoring\nactivities occurring on 5\/19 and sign up to pitch in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Please\nplan to devote some time this coming quarter to supporting any graduating\nseniors in your program who are working to finalize their Academic Statements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) As you look forward to fall quarter, please\nremember that it\u2019s not the responsibility of\nthe Writing Center<\/a> to provide\nin-class Academic Statement workshops (see\nCBA 6.2.2). I\nknow that the AS is probably the last thing on your mind right now, which is\nunderstandable. When\nyou get to that spot in your planning, I\u2019m\nhappy to share the resources I have with anyone\nwho is looking for a place to start. There are also some good resources\navailable on the Mentoring\nand Academic Statement Canvas site<\/a>. The site could use some updates, but\nperhaps you will find it useful.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
