Dear Evergreen Community, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning, we awoke to the news of a\nseries of shootings in Atlanta, Georgia that left 8 people dead. Of\nthe lives lost, 6 were identified as Asian women. First\nPeoples stands in solidarity with members of our Asian American &\nPacific Islander communities. This a moment of mourning and grief\nthat deeply touches the staff at First Peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last year, there has been a\nrise in anti-Asian violence rooted in xenophobia and bigotry and\nheightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of this violence has gone\nunreported by the media. Much of this violence fails to be recognized as\nexplicit acts of racism with deep legacies\nof hateful stereotypes and state-sponsored policies of\nanti-Asian exclusion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
