She has performed in venues from Carnegie Hall and the Paris           Opera House to music festivals and local clubs, and collaborated with many well-known artists.           Toshi will           be performing excerpts from the opera Octavia E. Butler\u2019s Parable of he           Sower, which she created with her mother Bernice Johnson Reagon. She           will also discuss the role of the artist in times of crisis,           including the pandemic, the climate crisis, and the ongoing struggle           for racial and social justice. The event is hosted by Evergreen\u2014Tacoma and moderated by Dean Marcia Tate Arunga.
