Which could include:&nbsp;A group\ntext to use in the case of emergencies; an old-fashioned phone tree where each\nindividual knows who they are to call;&nbsp;or&nbsp;students set up Canvas to\nsend them&nbsp;text messages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Academic Statements:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students will\nstill be required to submit their annual and final academic statements this\nspring. In these check-ins you can inquire about any obstacles to the\nlearning environment, as well as field questions about program content,\nachieving learning objectives&nbsp;and&nbsp;earning credit. Again, we hope that\nflexibility, compassion&nbsp;and&nbsp;creativity can be extended to students\nwho may not all be able to respond to program\/course assignments in the same\nway, particularly due to their access to synchronous learning tools. Advisers may be able to help troubleshoot issues students are\ntoo shy to talk to you about.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;Is your student\u2019s in-class\nperformance not as engaged or well-prepared as you\u2019d like it to be?&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Giving them models\u00a0and\u00a0examples\u00a0(ideally, multiple options)\u00a0of what you expect their work to be may be helpful for students who are easily distracted, or who are having a hard time thinking clearly about what good work looks like in this moment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;You may also\nwant to offer alternatives to synchronous video, to make sure\nthat&nbsp;students can demonstrate engagement with the course\ncontent&nbsp;and&nbsp;ideas. In other\nwords, we expect faculty to design learning experiences for students who can\nparticipate in live online class meetings,&nbsp;and&nbsp;an alternate pathway\nfor those who have limited access to tools like zoom.
