The College encourages and supports study\nabroad programs by funding some faculty travel costs and providing\nadministrative and advising assistance. If you have plans to propose a study\nabroad program for 2022\/23, there is an application and approval process which\nI explain below. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019d like to know more about ways to incorporate study\nabroad in your programs in the future please discuss this with me. In\nparticular, we encourage faculty to consider study abroad trips to locations\nwhere we have already established successful relationships. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Kathleen Eamon, Academic Dean, The Evergreen State College:&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Evening &amp; Weekend Studies | Summer Sessions | Study\nAbroad and International Programs&nbsp;(she\/her)&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection Process for Study Abroad Programs&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since study abroad programs are expensive, we limit the\nnumber of study abroad programs offered per year. For that reason, there is a\nselection process for study abroad programs, which involves submitting a\nproposal in advance of the usual program description submission process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to streamline the work of faculty who wish to\npropose study abroad programs, to provide time for curriculum deans and faculty\ncurriculum leaders to make informed decisions about prioritization, and to\nallow time for faculty to develop alternate academic programs in the event a\nproposal is not approved, <strong>study abroad proposals are due February 23<sup>rd<\/sup>,\n2021.<\/strong>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The timeline outlined below provides a clear pathway for\nreview, prioritization, and selection of study abroad programs, with ample time\nfor changes in plan when necessary.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Timeline (Winter Quarter 2021 for 2022\/2023 academic year\nproposals)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The faculty coordinator for a proposed study abroad program, in consultation      with fellow team members, <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsites.evergreen.edu%2Facademicforms%2F2022-23-study-abroad-application%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cwilliaas%40evergreen.edu%7C7b1977ff964f4e4617e008d8c240c250%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637472930675091039%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=DYnriew5GsIF2nqnvLy%2BvcZzvIQ0e2%2Fz94TweDxqbRE%3D&amp;reserved=0\">completes  a study abroad application<\/a>.\u00a0 A synopsis of the program is required, but a detailed program description is not required at this time. <strong>Applications are due by 8:00am on Tuesday, February 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2021. \u00a0<\/strong><\/li><li>In  February and March, the CAT leaders and curriculum deans discuss and      prioritize study abroad requests, using the criteria outlined on the application form. \u00a0<\/li><li>By the end of March, the dean for international programs, after consultation with the curriculum deans and other academic administrators, will approve      programs depending on funding constraints and other considerations, such      as the number of students who will travel.\u00a0<\/li><li>Immediately following the dean\u2019s decision, the dean will notify faculty teams of the      status of their proposal.\u00a0<\/li><li>After decisions are made faculty will need to enter their approved program into the curriculum system and work with CAT Leaders to move their programs toward publication.\u00a0 Faculty whose programs are not approved will be asked to develop an alternative program description.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The\nEvergreen State College is open; find updated information at&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwebmail.evergreen.edu%2Fowa%2Fredir.aspx%3FC%3D1AZrB6ayR8ZMTH49CtsVV1U9r010EATuPhaiHlw29Txh91FewCzYCA..%26URL%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fslack-redir.net%252flink%253furl%253dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.evergreen.edu%2526v%253d3&amp;data=04%7C01%7Cwilliaas%40evergreen.edu%7C7b1977ff964f4e4617e008d8c240c250%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637472930675091039%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=m0MhQCRO8nbQBKSIzO0xGyIBvA37qG49vY1Xy%2BNlN5g%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.evergreen.edu<\/a><\/strong><strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong>We are working remotely in order to reduce the spread of\nCOVID-19.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\nIn addition, the following\nacademic administration offices will be working reduced hours on Fridays due to\nlower staffing levels.
