\nThe\nNew Academic Directions Capstone workgroup has been charged with developing a vision\nfor increase access to capstone and signature work experiences for Evergreen\nstudents. Please consider bringing your perspective to this important\nwork.  To join, add your name to an open slot on the sign-up form<\/a>.  I\nam happy to answer your questions – just shoot me an email.

\nNew Academic Directions\nCapstone Workgroup, 2020-2021:<\/strong>
\n
\nGoal<\/strong>: Build upon the capstone work from this\nsummer to further develop capstones as a strategy to improve curricular\ncohesion for students. 
\nExpectation<\/strong>: Work collaboratively with faculty in your\nPath group and capstone stewards from other paths to finalize a capstone\nproposal for review by Curriculum Area Team (CAT) Leaders and the Student and\nAcademic Life Leadership Team (SAL-LT). 
\nCharge<\/strong>: Charge a faculty committee\/workgroup, with\nstaff and student representatives, in the Fall to develop a common,\ncollege-wide vision for expectations, language, and support structures for\ncapstones. This committee would detail the faculty, administrative, and\nfinancial support needed to make capstones a vibrant, signature feature of an\nEvergreen education. It would also consider the changes to FTE\ndistribution\/compensation needed for faculty to mentor\/support capstone\nexperiences for all students. Faculty meetings and student GU meetings would be\nplaces (amongst others) for robust, substantive discussions of the proposed\ncapstone system. Any increase in expectations for faculty mentorship of\nincreased numbers of capstone projects would involve negotiations through the\nUnion. The committee will collaborate with CAT leaders, Path conveners,\nMarketing and Admissions, the LTC, and other New Academic Directions initiative\nteams to move the project forward in a coherent and integrated manner. Consider\nthe question: in order to fully support all students in competing capstone\nwork, what do we need to do? (from the 2020 <\/em>Summer 2020 Workgroup Report<\/em><\/a>)
