Thanks for all you have\ndone to launch a&nbsp;mostly-remote&nbsp;fall quarter!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Good news that\nmay have impacted your fall offering<\/strong>:&nbsp;this year four times as\nmany&nbsp;students&nbsp;registered in week&nbsp;one&nbsp;and&nbsp;week&nbsp;two&nbsp;as compared to last year&nbsp;(a&nbsp;net growth of 67 students\nfrom day one to day ten; 2\/3 continuing students, 1\/3 new students).&nbsp;The good news&nbsp;is&nbsp;this boosted overall&nbsp;enrollment!&nbsp;The impact on many of you&nbsp;is that&nbsp;those&nbsp;last-minute students didn\u2019t&nbsp;have&nbsp;immediate&nbsp;access to Canvas, etc., until\nthey registered. Thank you for your patience&nbsp;through the&nbsp;welcome and support\nstudents&nbsp;into your offering.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Week 5 Check-Ins:&nbsp;<\/strong>As<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Week 5 approaches we send\nthis reminder of our tradition of mid-quarter check-ins with your students.&nbsp;<strong>Please ensure that you\ncontact all students who may face the possibility of not earning all credits so\nfar this quarter, by<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Friday, October&nbsp;30<\/strong>. Note that there\nare somewhat different conditions for good academic standing and financial aid\neligibility.&nbsp;For both, a general rule is&nbsp;the 75% guideline: if a\nstudent earns less than 3\/4 of their credits&nbsp;in a given&nbsp;quarter, they may be\nrisking their financial aid and good academic standing. When you meet with\nstudents who may be earning less than full credit, please&nbsp;advise them to keep their eye\non&nbsp;their academic standing&nbsp;and financial aid. Encourage them to speak\nwith Academic Advising&nbsp;(<a href=\"mailto:intakea@evergreen.edu\">intakea@evergreen.edu<\/a>), Financial Aid&nbsp;(<a href=\"mailto:finaid@evergreen.edu\">finaid@evergreen.edu<\/a>), and\/or the Academic Deans&nbsp;(<a href=\"mailto:deans@evergreen.edu\">deans@evergreen.edu<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bear in mind\nthese policies&nbsp;apply&nbsp;only&nbsp;to&nbsp;16 credits&nbsp;offerings; given the move to many 12 credit options to satisfy\nfurloughs,&nbsp;this makes it more difficult for students to stay in\ngood standing.&nbsp;&nbsp;At 12 credits, a student cannot lose any credits\nwithout financial aid implications, so given the multiplication of 12 credit\noptions in winter and spring, please be very careful to support students and\ncommunicate with them the stakes of earning&nbsp;all of&nbsp;their credit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that\nwe are extending our interim&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.evergreen.edu%2Fpolicy%2Finterimacademicstanding&amp;data=04%7C01%7Chomchicr%40evergreen.edu%7C29a092c1a74041e45ca908d875089c32%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637388153701752668%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=tOvTfg4xqxPGMDRJy%2B9aQ1XSSuac6mDqV7f2cpF7bYQ%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academic\nStanding policy<\/a>&nbsp;developed in the spring of 2020&nbsp;(This has been adjusted\nfor the duration of the COVID period).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you had a conversation with your&nbsp;students about&nbsp;these policies?&nbsp;Is it included in your\nsyllabus? Talking with students about these&nbsp;policies&nbsp;in general can&nbsp;help alleviate surprise, stress and panic down the\nline. Look for more conversation about equitable policies and practices as we\nundertake a reflection and review this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Processing No\nCredit Reports:&nbsp;<\/strong>Do you have students who have dropped\nyour program but still appear on the roll? If it\u2019s appropriate, and if you\nhaven\u2019t already done so, it may be useful to fill out a no-credit report on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmy.evergreen.edu%2F&amp;data=04%7C01%7Chomchicr%40evergreen.edu%7C29a092c1a74041e45ca908d875089c32%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637388153701762666%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&amp;sdata=LTdiuQN7jrj5yZS%2Ff0zKo67TN%2Fv%2BioFFORq3%2BRhNhu0%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my.evergreen.edu<\/a>&nbsp;under the\n\u201cclass lists and evaluations\u201d link, indicating the last date of attendance. By\nfilling this out before the end of the quarter, the student will get notices\nregarding financial aid reimbursement and other registration actions much\nearlier than they&nbsp;otherwise would.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Power outages and\nother disruptions<\/strong>. We\u2019ve seen some gusty days already this&nbsp;October and&nbsp;resulting&nbsp;power pulses and outages. We\nencourage you to develop a contingency plan with your&nbsp;students that includes\na back-up mode of emergency communication&nbsp;and clear ways&nbsp;students can carry on with\nwork, even when synchronous meeting is not possible. The CELTC will work to extend social and\nsustainability entrepreneurship beyond the classroom, in addition to supporting\nacademic&nbsp;offerings. This includes facilitating engagement with\nand among students, faculty, staff, courses, programs, clubs, college\nleadership, alumni, local entities, wider community, and others.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This month, the CELTC will convene\nfaculty\/staff, alumni\/community, and student advisory boards to help shape the\ncenter\u2019s mission and long-term strategic plan. In addition, entrepreneurship\ntraining and educational modules designed as an educational support tool for\nfaculty throughout Evergreen will begin rolling out. Finally, the center is\nbeginning the development of a longer-term, structured social and\nsustainability entrepreneurship pathway, while continuing to build upon the\nincredible entrepreneurship work already being done at Evergreen.
