Hello Faculty,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The curriculum\nteam will be working hard to make needed adjustments to the academic catalog by\nthe promised date of November 15th<\/sup>. This process includes both our\nregular pre-quarter checks and edits and adjusting descriptions to reflect\nremote teaching (or limited hybrid for those in the pilot), as well as any\nchanges related to faculty furlough plans for winter.<\/a>[ST1]<\/a> [ST2]<\/a> [EK3]<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty should\ncurrently be working with their CAT Leaders to propose changes to their winter\nor spring curriculum as required by the furlough. Those plans will come to the\nAcademic Deans for final approval. Once a CAT has an approved furlough plan,\nthe curriculum team will begin reaching out to individual faculty or faculty\nteams to make those adjustments and update descriptions for the shift to remote\nteaching. We will be prioritizing winter changes during October and November,\nso if you have a spring furlough changes we will be getting to those as soon as\npossible after winter updates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect to hear\nfrom either Patricia Bateman or Ruth Brownstein requesting information<\/strong>\u2013\u2013your timely response will be crucial! You can prepare for\nthese information requests by preparing the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A new description for your winter offering (if needed), reflecting changes in credit number or due to the shift to remote learning\u00a0<\/li>
  2. Requests for variable credit or additional CRNs\u00a0<\/li>
  3. Any changes to your existing required fees or special expenses\u00a0<\/li>
  4. A statement to add to your description about what is required for successful completion of your program or course in a remote environment. Your statement should include the following:\u00a0
    1. Technology needed \u00a0<\/li>
    2. Estimate of synchronous hours\u00a0<\/li>
    3. A statement similar to this: \u201cOur approach will emphasize participation in synchronous (live) sessions; however, if students find themselves unable to participate due to technology, caregiving obligations, economic disruption, health risk, or illness, they can work with faculty to pursue alternate options to earn related credit.\u201d \u00a0<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
    4. Your finalized class schedule, which you will need to enter in Schedule Evergreen on your own. This will need to list on the required synchronous meeting times with the activity type of Remote\/Online. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Hybrid Teaching\nin Winter:<\/strong> We will be continuing with our\nhybrid learning pilot project in winter quarter. At present, our campus\ninfrastructure is supporting about 6-8 programs, along with a handful of\nin-person ILCs or on-campus internships, totaling approximately 200 students\nwith access to in-person learning.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Faculty who\nwish to have in-person learning in their winter program should submit a\nrequest, using our <\/strong>online form,<\/strong><\/a> by noon on Friday, October 16, 2020<\/strong>. Priority will be given to those offerings that cater to\nupper-division students, allowing them to achieve their needs for graduation.\nQuestions can be directed to deans@evergreen.edu<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
