Hello Evergreen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happy\nWeek 1! The Student Activities office continues to adapt to\nremote learning and budget constraints through adjusting our services and re-distribution of\nstaff work. We\nexpress thanks to our campus partners and friends for their support in helping\nus navigate these challenging times. Each change and update is centered in how best to\nsupport our students. A full list of updates is\navailable on our website homepage<\/a> and below are some staff updates…. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff<\/strong> <\/strong>Updates<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeannette\nSmith<\/strong> <\/strong>is serving in\na temporary role as Associate\nDean for Student Affairs and Engagement, supporting a cross-divisional\nprocess to consider models for coordination of student affairs areas and exploring internal communication plans for students. She will continue to\nadvise the Geoduck Student Union and the formation of a centralized student basic needs center in\nthe CAB. She\ncan be reached at smithje@evergreen.edu<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kayla\nMahnke Hargett<\/strong> <\/strong>is\nstepping into the Director of Student Activities position. Kayla has\nbeen at Student Activities for 7 years and recently advised the transformation\nof the Flaming Eggplant Caf\u00e9 into a co-curricular academic program. While the\ncaf\u00e9 is closed this quarter, she is supporting the Student\nActivities staff and student leaders while we\nare working, teaching, and organizing remotely. Kayla is\nalso starting the Masters of\nPublic Administration program at\nEvergreen this fall. If you have questions or want to collaborate on\nco-curricular programming or student\norganizations, you can\ncontact Kayla via email at: mahnkek@evergreen.edu<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melissa\nBennett<\/strong> <\/strong>is now the\nAssistant Director for Spirituality and Meaning Making, building a new program\nfor on-campus chaplaincy and 1:1 spiritual\ncare for students. College <\/a>chaplains are\ndiverse in identity,\ncare, practice, and expertise. Melissa\nprovides a confidential space for students to talk through questions of\npurpose, belonging, community, connection, grief, joy, and deepening their\nrelationships to self and others. She is here to accompany students as they\nnavigate their time at Evergreen providing advocacy, serving as a social and\nhealing justice mentor, and providing resources and referrals to other well-being\nservices on campus or in the community. Jodi<\/strong> <\/strong>Santillie<\/strong> is back temporarily as Interim Senior\nAdvisor! Jodi will be supporting the work of\nthe Cooper Point Journal and\nstudent organizations while she is with us. She is excited to be back working\nwith the Student Activities team and help\nstudents build virtual programming and activities! We are\nexcited to have her expertise and support through December \u2013 truly thrilled. If you have\nquestions or want to collaborate with Jodi, you can contact her via email at jodi.santillie1@evergreen.edu<\/a>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New\nStudent Programs<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jadon Berry<\/strong> <\/strong>continues\nas Director of New Student Programs, supporting First Year Experience, Greener\nFoundations, and Orientation. The\ntransition of this area to Student Activities will increase collaboration with\nstudent services,\ncreate more efficient ways of communicating, and expand support for\nco-curricular programs. Jadon will also advise the students serving on the\nService & Activities Fee Allocation Board. Please reach Jadon at berryj@evergreen.edu<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shirley Siloi<\/strong> <\/strong>(MPA\n\u201818), returns to Evergreen as the new Assistant Director of New Student\nPrograms after spending the previous six years providing direct student success\nsupport to students at Tacoma Community College. She has also spent time\nworking at Seattle University and completed an internship at the State Board\nfor Community and Technical Colleges. Shirley has already jumped in to take on\ncomponents of fall orientation and will continue to support the matriculation\nof students in winter\/spring quarters while also contributing to the expansion\nof Pre-Orientation Programs for fall 2021. Please reach out to Shirley at  Shirley.E.Siloi@evergreen.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
