We hope you find this helpful\nand invite questions via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Virtual\nOrientation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like\nmany programs on campus, we have pivoted to an online format for this fall. New\nundergraduate students are required to participate in a series of synchronous\nand asynchronous activities as they matriculate to campus. The activities\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In mid-July we launched a<strong> Canvas-based Advising and Registration module<\/strong> that also provides an opportunity to connect with an academic advisor.<\/li><li>In      August we launched a<strong> Canvas-based Spirituality and Meaning Making Module<\/strong> that provides opportunities for students to connect directly with Melissa Bennett, our Assistant Director for Spirituality and Meaning      Making. Melissa is doing an amazing job of connecting students to resources and providing one-on-one support.<\/li><li>We\u2019ve recently launched two learning modules we have brought in from a company called EVERFI. These modules engage students in learning and thinking about <strong><em>Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion <\/em><\/strong>and <strong>Sexual Assault      Prevention.<\/strong> They receive an email directly from EVERFI for these modules.<\/li><li>Twice      in September there are a<strong> series of live webinars <\/strong>where students get welcomed to the college, learn about campus resources, meet with staff      from First Peoples, and receive an introduction to <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.evergreen.edu%2Forientation%2Fcommon-reading&amp;data=02%7C01%7Chomchicr%40evergreen.edu%7C7d25d4b2db584d64d11908d856a3a527%7C22adcff7c06f49a68f2050711c40ddaa%7C0%7C0%7C637355295264819019&amp;sdata=eliJ7kVCPcdAbU7HmHsVERiQ8T0UMNiyHmYg379jz%2BY%3D&amp;reserved=0\">this year\u2019s common read<\/a> <\/li><li><strong>Convocation and      Student\/Faculty Workshops<\/strong> \u2013 Just like past years, we will hold a convocation event. This will be via Zoom on Friday, Sept. 25 from 10 &#8211; 11:30 AM and student faculty workshops will follow from 1 &#8211;      3:00 PM. Students needing a weekend option will be able to watch a replay of the webinar on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 &#8211; 11:30 AM and participate in live student\/faculty workshops from 1 &#8211; 3:00 PM on Saturday.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special\nThanks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orientation\ncould never exist without the amazing support and partnerships from folx across\nthe college. We\u2019d like to specifically name Academic Technologies, Electronic\nMedia, Academic and Career Advising (especially Mel and Kathy), Admissions, Jo\nBernier, The Bookstore, the Deans Office Staff, the staff in RAD, Student\nActivities, Melissa Bennett, Jeannette Smith, Writing Center and QuaSR staff,\nRegistration and Records, Financial Aid, and many others who have contributed\nin so many ways! The student experience is better due to your contributions.\nThank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New\nAssistant Director in NSP!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nare so excited to announce that for the next six months we have the benefit of\nan amazing new Assistant Director in New Student Programs! Shirley Siloi (MPA\n\u201818), returns to Evergreen after spending the previous six years providing\ndirect student success support to students at Tacoma Community College. She has\nalso spent time working at Seattle University and completed an internship at\nthe State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. Shirley has already\njumped in to take on components of fall orientation and will continue to\nsupport the matriculation of students in winter\/spring quarters while also\ncontributing to the expansion of Pre-Orientation Programs for fall 2021.\nShirley has three email addresses in the system so please reach out to her\nhere: <a href=\"mailto:Shirley.E.Siloi@evergreen.edu\">Shirley.E.Siloi@evergreen.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please plan to join us at convocation\non Friday, September 25 at 10 \u2013 11:30 AM.
